2016 Taiwan LPGA Tour Mercuries Life Insurance Heritage Tour Tournament Preview
Date:2016-05-24

This week, the Mercuries Life Insurance Heritage Tour will be making its first trip to the North Bay Golf & Country Club. A local field of 82 players, including 41 amateurs, will be playing for a purse of NT$600,000 with a top cash prize of NT$71,000 and a first runner-up prize check worth NT$45,000. Title sponsor Mercuries Life Insurance has hosted the Mercuries Taiwan Masters for 29 years on the Taiwan PGA (Men’s) Tour and decided to extend its reach in support of the development of the women’s game by launching the pro-junior Heritage tournament last year.

The Mercuries Life Insurance Heritage Tour is a TLPGA Tour event co-organized by the North Bay Golf & Country Club in Taipei. The course this week is set at 6,040 yards long.

The TLPGA Heritage Series applies the pro-junior system, in which the TLPGA pros are grouped with amateurs and junior golfers, with an aim to provide a platform for closer interaction between the experienced and the young prospects. The concept is also one of the main focuses for the TLPGA to develop the youth generation.

Tour veterans such as Huang Bie-Shyun (黃璧洵), Huang Yueh-Chyn (黃玥珡), Chang Mei-Chu (張美珠), and Shih Huei-Ju (石惠如) will square off against youngster challenges such as current TLPGA Tour top-tenners Chang Hsuan-Ping (張瑄屏), Yu Pei-Lin (余珮琳), and Chen Yu-Ju (陳宇茹), as well as number thirteen Yeh Hsin-Ning (葉欣寧). Leading prize money earners from the 2015 season, year-end number four Chen Meng-Chu (陳孟竺) and top-20 Huang Hsien-Wen (黃賢雯) are also in the field.

Besides Group Professionals, Group Amateurs of Women’s 16-25 (17-player), Boys’/Girls’ 12-16 (11/7-player), and Juniors’ 8-12 (6-player) will be in action alongside the pros. The first teeing group starts at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning and the final group will set off at 8:10 a.m..
