The 2020 GRIN Cup Charity Open tees off on Thursday. The Taiwan Golf Club, nicknamed by the locals as “Old Tamsui Course”, will play host to 83 players, which marks the return of the club as a TLPGA Tour partner after five years since the 2015 Lunch Club TPC Classic.

Charity donation raised before and throughout the event by GRIN, a leading membrane material manufacturer in Taiwan, will be used to endow three local organizations.

14 former TLPGA Tour stars were invited into a senior event to be held concurrently alongside the final round of the professional event this Saturday.

“This tournament is a collective effort by everyone who are proud and supportive of the growth of ladies’ golf in Taiwan. We are not a super high-profile company, but we tried to leverage our full capability to make this event successful, and special,” said GRIN President Mr. Lin. “What we think is very special about the GRIN Cup Charity Open is that we invited some of the best legends of the game here to hopefully add some blast-from-the-past moments into this week, and that the current crop of players can find inspiration in these graceful champions.”

“I mean, what a timing for GRIN to step up in these uncertain times to make this tournament happen. I respect Mr. Lin’s passion and dedication very much. This is going to be a week to remember,” said chief manager of Taiwan Golf Club Mr. Ji. “The staff members have been working hard to make sure the course would be in perfect conditions as well as every aspect of the facilities, so that all players will feel cozy and very safe in the club as they are at home, which would be very important in these COVID-19 times.”

“Honestly, it’s amazing we still get to compete. As a player, I truly feel grateful for everyone behind the scenes, GRIN and the Old Tamsui Course, who made these all possible and created such a unique event,” said this year’s WPG Ladies Open winner Wu Chia-Yen (吳佳晏). “It’s going to be a great learning experience alongside these great veteran players as well. I can’t wait.”

The GRIN Cup Charity Open is the fourth leg of the 2020 TLPGA Tour, which was frozen for five months due to pandemic concerns.
