2015 Taiwan LPGA Tour | 2015 ICTSI Ladies Open Second-Round Recap
Date:2015-03-13

Korean Hwang Ye Nah heads into Friday’s final round of the 2015 ICTSI Ladies Open at the top of the leaderboard. Thanks to a low-round 6-under 66, Hwang maintained an important 2-stroke cushion at 10-under-par 134 over local amateur Princess Superal, who also carded a flawless 66, and looked confident to take her first TLPGA Tour victory.

The 2015 TLPGA Tour season this week heads south to the Southlinks Golf Club in Manila, Philippines for the LPGT (Ladies Philippine Golf Tour) season opener and the very first edition of the TLPGA Tour and LPGT co-sanctioned event. It is the fourth pit stop of the 2015 TLPGA Tour and the winner emerging from the 70-player field will receive a prize check worth US$15,000.

Tomorrow’s final group features Hwang, Superal, and 2014 TLPGA Party Golfers' Open champion Kanphanitnan Muangkhumsakul. Tee time will be at 8:15 a.m.. Superal is looking for her second straight LPGT title coming off a victory at the last stop of the 2014 LPGT, the Sherwood Ladies Championship.

It was a toe-to-toe battle between Hwang and Superal all day, who started from 4-under and 2-under respectively, as either or both of them scored a birdie in each of the first seven holes except the 2nd, carding impressive 31 and 32 front-nines.

However, meanwhile, first-round co-leader Mia Piccio struggled as she dropped five shots in a span of just eight holes around the turn, and found herself in a difficult position if she would want to lift the trophy tomorrow while Hwang and Superal continued to produce birdies on the back nine, leaving her eight shots off the lead at solo fourth in the end.

Finding a door to sneak into the leading group was 2014 TLPGA Party Golfers' Open titlist, 16-year-old Kanphanitnan Muangkhumsakul, who finished solo third after shooting a 3-under 69 with four birdies and one bogey.

The highest standing Taiwanese player is TLPGA No.9 Yeh Hsin-Ning (葉欣寧), who shot a 4-over 76 to sit in a tie for ninth at a two round total of 147. “I tried to be more aggressive but I couldn’t quite find my range,” said Yeh, who sent another two shots out of bound making it four in total after two rounds. “Yeah, that was pretty unusual. But I can just take it and learn from it and hopefully I will be finishing more solidly and make the top-5.”

Her fellow Taiwanese Huang Hsien-Wen (黃賢雯) and Pan Yen-Ling (潘彥伶) are both in a four-way tie of twelfth.
