2016 Taiwan LPGA Tour Pacific Links International TLPGA Heritage Tour Final-Round Recap
Date:2016-07-07

Chang Hsuan-Ping (張瑄屏) made a late charge on Thursday to take the victory of the 2016 Pacific Links International TLPGA Heritage Tour. Chang finished one shot lower than Shih Huei-Ju (石惠如) with a 1-over par 145. With the win, her first in almost three years, Chang pocketed NT$71,000; runner-up Shih made NT45,000.

After her first-round 73, Chang came up making three bogeys and dropped to 4-over but bounced back strongly to finish with three birdies in the last four holes. “I felt great coming to the final tee, my sponsor, vice president of the Taishin International Bank shouted out his cheers for me. I was really surprised and it gave the extra boost of confidence,” said Chang. This is Chang’s third TLPGA Tour title after turning pro in 2010.

Overnight leader Shih remained atop through seventeen holes today at the Taiwan Golf & Country Club but the final-hole bogey denied her hopes of a play-off. She had three birdies and five bogeys in her round of 74. “I missed some opportunities with my putter but I was trying to stay in the game. Unfortunately, the tee shot was a bad hit in that last hole,” said Shih.

Pan Yen-Ling (潘彥伶) put up a low-round 71 on Thursday to make a jump from thirteenth to solo third at two-round total of 147. “I expected more because I had my chances. Two short putts on 15 and 18 I didn’t capitalize on,” said Pan.

Tying for fourth are Chen Szu-Han (陳思涵) and Chen Min-Jou (陳敏柔) at 148.

Chen Szu-Han had four birdies, three bogeys and one double-bogey to card 1-over 73. “I struggled a little bit with the short range shots. But overall I feel okay.”

Huang Pei-Wen (黃佩雯), who was making the turn with a front-nine 34, let away five shots on the back, including a double-bogey on 18th to fall into a four-way tie for sixth. She along with Chu Yuan-Jung (朱苑鎔), Lee Hsin (李欣), and Wang Chi (王琪) are at 5-over 149. “I got too tight going in. Putting was not aggressive enough partly because of the nerves,” said Huang. Lee had four birdies and credited her control on the irons. “I made couple of bad mistakes, though. Definitely could have gone lower,” said Lee.

Group Amateur Women’s winner goes to Cheng Szu-Juei (鄭熙叡) who finished at 151. Chou Yi-Ting (周翊庭) of Group Amateur Girls’ 12-16 followed up her low-tournament round of 70 yesterday with a 75, clinching the victory at 145, which can be the winning score as well in the pro field.

The TLPGA pro-junior event is title-sponsored, for the first time, by the Pacific Links International. The company has provided another NT$500,000 cheque for the season-end “Pacific Links International TLPGA Tour Prize Money Winner” prize.

Owning and operating membership programs in cooperation with more than 534 clubs and courses around the world, the Pacific Links International strives to create a collection of the most sought-after golf spots in the world, including a partnership with the Tournament Players Club (TPC) Network of courses operated by the PGA Tour, hoping to deliver the best memorable golf experience for its members.
