2017 Symetra Tour IOA Championship Second Round Press Release

2017 IOA Championship second round at California Morongo Golf course, Daniela Darquea from Ecuador shot 67, Anne-Catherine Tanguay from Canada and Briana Mao from USA both shot 68; three players with total 137 7-under-par leading the game.

The leaders yesterday Emily Tubert from USA, Sophia Popov from German and Samantha Richdale from Canada, plus two USA players Alison Emrey and Cindy LaCrosse, total 5 players with 1 shot behind the leaders.

Ching Huang from Taiwan played 70 total 2-under-par 142, sharing 19th with 10 other players, she had the best ranking among 4 Taiwan players who made cut.

Amatuer Tzu-Han Lin shot 69 today with 1-over-par 145 ranked 50th, the only Taiwan amateur who made the cut.

Yu-Ju Chen and Doris Chen played 71 and 74, both had total 146 ranked 60th, made cut at last per ranking.

The committee set the cut line at 146 2-over-par, total 72 players made to the final round. Tomorrow groups in pair, first group tee off at 7:30am, last group 13:10pm.

Three leaders after two rounds are seeking for their first professional win, especially Daniela Darquea who had second tournament on Symetra Tour, she made 17th on last tournament. Her putts were very precise which made a lot 20 feet putts, but also 3-putt over three holes, she shot 7 birdies and 2 bogeys total 67. If she win tomorrow, she would be the first Ecuador professional player who win Symetra Tour.

26-year-olf Tanguay also had good condition on putter, total 29 putts. Most of them from 10-12 feet and total 6 birdies, only 1 double bogey on the field. She had six top-10 records, last tournament tied 10th.

Briana Mao from California had 5 birdies and 1 bogey, 35-33 over the round. Ching Huang as her first time playing Symetra Tour only played well, 5 birdies but also 3 bogeys.

She started from hole 10, birdied at hole 12 but also received two bogeys by iron and putt miss; but she returned back to 1 under by 2 birdies at hole 16and 17. In the end, she had 2 birdies at hole 4 and 9, also a bogey at hole 7, that’s 35-35 to end the round.

Amateur Tzu-Han Lin had 69, this was her first Symetra Tour but great iron condition made her day, she had 16 regular on the greens and 4 birdies, though a bogey due to 3-putt. Birdied at two par-4 and two par-5 holes, from 2, 6 and 8 feet separately.

17-year-old Tzu-Han Lin is second year at Hsiang Shan Senior High School Sports class, she starts to play at 10 and receive sponsorship from Swinging Skirts from 2015. She had training and tournaments in Australia and USA in the last two years, which elevated her skills and increased experience.

When she joined the LPGA in Australia and made cut, she was thrilled though the last two rounds weren’t smooth; she also played last year Swinging Skirts Classic in San Francisco. She had more confidence to herself and will fight for great scores tomorrow.

Yu-Ju Chen also first time playing at Symetra Tour, had good irons today and made 3 birdies but along with 2 bogeys. She had 78% fairway hits, 72% regular on, 60% saves and 30 putts, everything works stable and less mistakes.

She said tomorrow will maintain her swinging tempo and focus on the spots while approaching the greens, the greens are full of challenges with slopes. She turned pro in 2015 and currently freshman year at National Taiwan Sport University, besides coach Sung Ding Heng she also practice at Tsia Hsing Elite Club and coached by Huang Yan-Chi. Also continue doing workouts.

Doris Chen had a tough day due to irons and driver didn’t go well, she had 3 bogey and 1 birdies. Only 7 fairway hits, 7 regular on, along with 27 putts which saved many holes.

Total prize money USD100,000, winner will be rewarded USD15,000, the game held at south California and east Los Angeles city Beaumont Morongo Golf Club.

This is the 2nd tournament out of USA Symetra Tour 21 tournaments; it is also the second year co-certificate between TLPGA Tour and Symetra Tour. Start from this week in California there will be three co-certificated tournaments in a row.

Symetra Tour annual OOM top 10 will receive player card to participate 2018 LPGA Tour.
