2019 Taiwan LPGA Tour |Taiwan Mobile Ladies Open 11 – 13 Dec Press Release
Date:2019-11-19

TLPGA members Chang Ya-Chi (張亞琦), Hanna Chen (陳子涵), Lynn Chiu (邱齡緹), Lee Min (李旻), the 2018 TLPGA Taiwan Mobile Ladies Open and the venue, the Tong Hwa Golf Club, landed themselves in the list of Guinness World Records for “Most holes-in-one in a single tournament (same hole)” this July, as the TLPGA and the Taiwan Mobile announced today.

The third edition of the TLPGA Taiwan Mobile Ladies Open will be back in action on Dec. 11-13.

With odds claimed to be at about 12,500 to 1, making a hole-in-one is an exceptionally rare achievement. However, it happened an astonishing four times in the first two rounds of the 2018 TLPGA Taiwan Mobile Ladies Open, all on the 16th hole at the Tong Hwa Golf Club.

To make it even more unbelievable, two of which were scored in the same playing group on the 15th of November, 2018.

Playing partners Hanna Chen (陳子涵) and Lynn Chiu (邱齡緹) made the second and third ace of the NT$5-million TLPGA Tour event on the 148-yard 16th hole in the second round, repeating Chang Ya-Chi′s (張亞琦) feat, who opened the ace count in the first round the day before and took away the hole-in-one prize of a Sharp 70-inch TV. Eventual winner Lee Min (李旻) notched the fourth ace later on the same day – something extremely rare to behold. Although the hole-in-one prize of a Sharp′s 70-inch 8K TV, worth NT$350,000, was already given to Chang, Lee, Chen, and Chiu each received a bonus cash prize of NT$115,000 by title sponsor Taiwan Mobile and the Tong Hwa Golf Club.

The TLPGA decided to celebrate the feat by making it an official Guinness world record. It was finally recognized on the 1st of July this year.

“We had to provide all the footages, event background documents, and the players′ scorecards to prove that it was real, despite the slim odds. They even asked us to offer data about the weather conditions then,” said TLPGA chairwoman Cheng Mei-Chi. “It′s definitely very special. I’m happy and proud to witness this incredible record and I hope there are more to come in the upcoming 2019 event.”

“Four aces in two days. It still feels surreal. It′s just so cool to share the record title,” Lee Min said, who lifted the first of her back-to-back victories that week, followed by a win at the China Women′s Open. She became the first Taiwanese champion in the China LPGA Tour year-end event, finishing on 12-under-par 276.

With her strong late-season run, Lee earned herself an endorsement deal with the Taiwan Mobile.
