2020 Taiwan LPGA Tour | Party Golfers Ladies Open 18– 20 Nov Tournament Preview
Date:2020-11-17

The TLPGA Tour moves into its sixth leg with the Party Golfers Ladies Open, which will be held at the Sunrise Golf and Country Club this year through Wednesday to Friday.

92 players will be vying for a total purse of NT$3 million. The winner will take away a NT$540,000 prize check. The Party Golfers, an amateur golf team comprised of local entrepreneurs, who share a strong passion and social responsibility to the development of the golf sport, announced on today’s pre-tournament press conference it will offer bonus NT$100,000 cash prizes for each player who would wrap up the week in red numbers.

“It’s been a tough year with the pandemic threat but we have stood strong together to get things back on track. The Taiwan LPGA Tour is still just one of the few professional tours that can run properly at the moment. We should be proud of it,” Party Golfers president Yang R-P. said.

“I think the best players Taiwan has all gathered here at the Party Golfers Open. Especially with the varying schedules of players who also play on oversea tours, it’s a rare case that actually all of the best ones can compete together,” said Party Golfers chief manager Lin H-C. “This makes this year’s field very strong and special, so does it in the other events as it did attract some new sponsors such as WPG and Wistron to hold their title events. I believe this is some sort of blessing in disguise, very positive about the development of our ladies’ tour.”

TLPGA chairwoman Liu Yi-Chen again expressed her thanks on behalf of the organization and the players. “The support from Party Golfers has been invaluable, and incredibly influential in helping the TLPGA Tour to grow onto another level. I would also like to take this chance to thank all the partners and sponsors who join us this week. I look forward to an even more successful event than last year and some very high-quality golf in the perfect conditions the Sunrise provides us with. We are working closely with live broadcast service providers to make live TLPGA Tour plays more accessible to the fans, and to let the world see how high our standards actually are!”

“It was one of the biggest moments in my career, that’s for sure, when I finally won another TLPGA Tour title here last year after seven years of wait,” defending champion Hsieh Yu-Ling (謝瑀玲) said. “I still remember how emotional it was, and it just gave me the much-needed confidence to go on. I appreciated the Party Golfers for giving us such a great event and atmosphere to play in. The field is super competitive this time but I’m just going to keep a positive attitude and try my best to defend my title.”

A traditional 18-hole pro-am event took place today to give players one last chance to test the Sunrise Golf Course, host course of the LPGA Taiwan Championship in 2011 to 2013.
