LPGA Tour titlist Hsu Wei-Ling (徐薇淩) had a grueling end to her LPGA Tour season, navigating a packed schedule that took her through Korea, Malaysia, Japan, and Florida U.S..
While the constant travel was exhausting, for her, the experience was incredibly rewarding, especially her debut at the International Crown. There she joined forces with top LPGA Tour stars, such as former No.1 Lydia Ko, to help the World Team secure an impressive third-place finish.
Following the closure of her 2025 LPGA Tour season and before returning home for this week’s Taiwan Mobile Ladies Open, Hsu treated herself to a much-needed mini-vacation.
She headed over to Orlando to explore the newly opened theme parks at Universal Studios and caught an NBA game between the Orlando Magic and the Golden State Warriors. It was her first-ever live NBA experience, and she even picked up a No.22 jersey of Magic shooter Franz Wagner, whom she greatly admires.
Former World No.1 Yani Tseng (曾雅妮), who also holds numerous LPGA Tour records for Taiwan, recently overcame a long slump following hip surgery to claim an emotional victory at the Wistron Ladies Open in October, her first title in eleven years.
However, her hard-earned momentum was recently stalled by a new back injury. To focus on recovery, she did not join this week’s Pro-Am event and went for a final tune-up with her physical therapists, hoping to be in top form for this season finale.
By winning the LET-co-sanctioned Wistron event, Tseng also secured a Ladies European Tour 2026 card. She plans to balance a dual schedule between the LPGA and the LET next year, aiming to write a new chapter in her career and pay back her fans and sponsors for their support and encouragement.
Korean Hwang Ahreum is a seasoned five-time JLPGA Tour winner. She is returning to Taiwan for her second professional appearance.
Currently competing on the JLPGA Step-Up Tour, Hwang arrives in superb form with back-to-back runner-up finishes in her last two starts, making her one of the biggest favorites this week.
Having previously explored Northern Taiwan—visiting Juifen and downtown Taipei—she expressed her excitement about discovering Taichung after this tournament, saying that she is still scouting for the best local sights and food.
Her fellow Korean standout and fan favorite You Hyoju is making her Taiwan debut. She shared her positive first impressions of the Taifong Golf & Country Club, praising the course conditions and the warm hospitality of the staff. "The friendly atmosphere made me feel very welcome and helped me settle in quickly," said You, expressing her hope to deliver a strong performance for the Taiwanese fans this week. |
