2022 Taiwan LPGA Tour | Jing Mao Ladies Open 8 – 10 Jun Tournament Preview
Date:2022-06-07

Tsai Hsin Elite Golf Club will play host to 69 players who will be competing at the three-round Jing Mao Ladies Open from Wednesday.

2021 TLPGA Tour year-end no.1 Wu Chia-Yen (吳佳晏) headlines the field. Recent WPG Ladies Open winner Lee Hsin (李欣) and last week’s Nao Pao Heritage Tour champion Tseng Chen (曾楨) are hoping to keep up their good form in seek of a second title in 2022.

Title sponsor Jing Mao Construction joins the TLPGA Tour for supporting not just the local athletes but a cause to help raise tuition for college students in the Taoyuan area for the 2022 academic year. “Our goal was to reach NT$3 million this week. Now, still before the start of the tournament, we’ve already collected NT$2.5 million,” said Jing Mao CEO Fan B-F.. “Many of our partners in the industry lent their support. I feel grateful. We chose golf because it’s such a ‘lonely’ sport that requires pure determination and self-belief, which we believe are the foundation to construct anything big, and also the core qualities Jing Mao holds.”

“Personally, I play golf for more than 20 years, I know how hard it is, mentality-wise. We’ve been supporting the students for the past five years to fundraise in music concert events. Now, I’m just really excited to have this chance to put our experience into a sport I adore,” Fan added.

Wu Chia-Yen, who finished second at the WPG Ladies Open and T6 at the Nan Pao Heritage Tour in the recent weeks, is looking to take her eighth career crown and second this season after winning the YI-CHEN Heritage Tour in April.

The Jing Mao Ladies Open provides a total purse of NT$3 million; the winner will win NT$550,000. Sponsor Hole-in-One prizes will be up for grabs on Hole no.3, 9, 13, and 16.

26 pro players joined a traditional 18-hole pro-am on Tuesday, but the event was forced to be abandoned due to heavy rains. First-round action is set to begin from the 1st and the 10th tee at 6:30, Wednesday morning.
