2024 Taiwan LPGA Tour | Da Da DIGITAL Ladies Open 25 – 27 Sep Second-Round Recap
Date:2024-09-26

Chang Ching Ling (張靖翎) is eyeing a third victory in this TLPGA Tour season. She carded a Thursday 68 to take a one-shot lead at 10-under 134 heading into the final round of the 54-hole 2024 Da Da Digital Ladies Open.

After an equal-best bogey-free 66 in the opening round, Chang rolled in five birdies and one bogey during the second round today at the Tong Hwa Golf Club and emerged in solo lead.

“I went back on the range to hit some balls with my woods yesterday. I try to hit it more straight. And I’m happy it was really getting a lot better today,” said Chang, who made pars through to the sixth and birdied the following three holes from seventh to ninth. “I got a little too excited on the 10th hole and kind of overhit it, made one bogey, and after that I just tried to stay more focused, not to make any more mistake, and I did.” Chang attacked the damp greens well and needed just 28 putts.

Thailand’s Pakin Kawinpakorn used a low-round 67 to rise into solo second at 9-under 135. She was dialed in on the greens today, needing just 27 attempts. “I got a little more control over my irons as the round went on. I’m pretty happy with my putting game today. I read the greens well,” Kawinpakorn said.

An Ho Yu (安禾佑) was the co-leader in the first-round, but she could not bring her best game in wet conditions today and carded a 2-under 70 to drop into solo third at 8-under 136.

“I was struggling a little bit on the greens. I actually made quite a few long putts, but missed the short ones. I feel I also made some bad club choices, which got me into awkward positions in the first place,” An said. “There were definitely a lot of room for improvement for me and hopefully I can fix them and be more confident about my decision-making.”

Chen Min-Jou (陳敏柔) carded a 69 in the second round and rose into equal fourth with Chen Chih-Min (陳之敏) at 5-under 139. They are still well within striking distance for the win.

51 players who were in 147 made it through the 36-hole cut. Final round action will begin at 7 tomorrow morning.

The competition layout of this year’s Da Da Digital Ladies Open is set at 6,328 yards long. Da Da is a broadband service company in Taiwan initiated by the locally-renowned Da Feng cable company, which hopes to facilitate positive social relationships and connections through sporting events and various charitable endeavors organized by the Da Da Digital Foundation.

Hole-in-one prizes and bonus cheques from BESV E-Bike, EAGLE Golf, SAMPO, Departure, Taiwan Fire & Marine Insurance, and Masada Taiwan will be up for grabs for aces on Hole 1, 8, 12, and 17.
