2015 Taiwan LPGA Tour Gem Sheen TLPGA Heritage Tour Tournament Preview
Date:2015-07-28

The Taiwan LPGA Tour is back into action with the second stop of the Heritage series, the Gem Sheen TLPGA Heritage Tour getting underway starting Wednesday.

A local field of 102 players, including 37 pros and 65 amateur or junior players will be competing over two days with 36-hole stroke-play. The lowest score in Group Professionals will win a NT$71,000 first-place prize in a total purse of NT$600,000.

The 2015 Gem Sheen TLPGA Heritage Tour is organized by the TLPGA, co-organized and venue provided by Taiwan Golf & Country Club, with the title sponsor being the Gem Sheen Golf Club, which is one of the highest rated golf practice zones in Taiwan, featuring a 230-yard driving range, a 150-yard wedge area, as well as an 18-hole miniature course.

The Gem Sheen Golf Club is proud to have nurtured a host of great future champions such as the recent Mackenzie Tour (PGA Tour Canada) winner Pan Cheng Tsung (潘政琮), five-time LPGA Tour major champion Yani Tseng (曾雅妮), rising LPGA force Hsu Wei-Ling (徐薇淩), and PGA’s Champions Tour veteran Lu Chien-Soon (盧建順).

The TLPGA Heritage Series applies the pro-junior system, in which the TLPGA pros are grouped with amateurs and junior golfers, with an aim to provide a platform for closer interaction between the experienced and the young prospects. The concept is also one of the main focuses for the TLPGA to develop the youth generation.

TLPGA Chairwoman Liu Yi-Chen (劉依貞) also expressed her thanks to the support of Taiwan Golf & Country Club, praised by players and fans as the “St. Andrew Old Course” of Taiwan with its historical vibe.

Tour veterans such as Huang Bie-Shyun (黃璧洵), Huang Yueh-Chyn (黃玥珡), Cheng Mei-Chi (鄭美琦), and Tai Yu-Hsia (戴玉霞) will head out facing the younger challenges from the front runners on the 2015 TLPGA Tour Money List, including current number 3 Lin Tzu-Chi (林子麒), number 4 Chen Meng-Chu (陳孟竺), number 5 Liang Yi-Ling (梁宜羚), number 8 Chien Pei-Yun (錢珮芸), number 11 Chen Yu-Ju (陳宇茹), number 12 Huang Hsien-Wen (黃賢雯), and number 13 Shih Huei-Ju (石惠如).

Besides Group Professionals, Group Amateurs of Women’s 16-25, Boys’/Girls’ 12-16, and Juniors’ 8-12 will also be in action with first teeing group starts at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
