2019 Taiwan LPGA Tour | Nan Yi Professional Golf Ladies Open 4–6 Sep Final-Round Recap
Date:2019-09-06

Lin Tzu-Chi (林子麒) of Taiwan capped off the week at the Nan Yi Golf Club with an impressive bogey-free, 5-under 67 to capture her second TLPGA Tour title at the Nan Yi Professional Golf Ladies Open.

Her previous TLPGA Tour victory came almost four years ago when she won the TLPGA & Royal Open in 2016.

Lin finished on 6-under 210, which leaves a five-shot margin between her and a group of three players in the second place.

This is Lin’s fifth professional victory, which is worth NT$630,000.

Sharing the second place on 1-under par were Thai Yupaporn Kawinpakorn, who shot 68 on Friday, and Chen Szu-Han (陳思涵), who carded a 70, as well as overnight leader, 15-year-old amateur Wu Chia-Yen (吳佳晏), who needed 31 putts in the final round and dropped one shot with a final-round 73.

Due to the soggy conditions, players were allowed to take their “preferred lies” in today’s final-round.

“I was telling myself, ‘don’t play the score, play golf,’ and tried to enjoy the atmosphere,” said Lin. “I set a goal for myself to grab six birdies each round, and I got close today with five! Which was pretty good, still, considering how difficult the Nan Yi layout is.”

“I want to thank my families and friends, and especially my mom, who has been super supportive. Also, I would like to express heartfelt thanks to Taichung Golf Club’s President Yang for the training support they provide. It’s been three years since my last win. This is an important week for me and I hope to carry the confidence into the 2nd round LPGA Tour qualifying tournament which takes place in October. And yeah, there are many other Taiwanese girls in that event, I hope we can all do well there!” Lin said.

Lin was a member on the LPGA Symetra Tour in season 2018-2013; she earned herself brief appearances on the main LPGA Tour in 2012 but never really held her ground. She’s making another attempt to win an LPGA Tour card this year through the qualifying event, and has already passed the 1st stage test.

15-year-old Wu Chia-Yen made two birdies and three bogeys on Friday. Highlight of the round was a successful 27-foot birdie putt on the ninth hole, but there weren’t many chances on the greens she could work with. “My short game was a little inconsistent, and it never really gave me an opportunity to get the momentum going. It was probably one of my worse wedge performances in these two weeks,” Wu said.

Second-round co-leader Lu Hsin-Yu’s (盧昕妤) 75 today include a birdie, two bogeys, and a double-bogey, dragging her down into a tie for sixth with Kuo Ai-Chen (郭艾榛). Doris Chen (陳彥寧) finished one shot ahead in solo fifth.

Starting the day on 8-over, Chang Hsuan-Ping (張瑄屏) used a final-round 68 to climb up into an equal 12th finish at 220, tying Chen Meng-Chu (陳孟竺), who posted a disappointing 77 today.

Mayuna Furukawa used a 48-degree wedge to ace the 15th hole and won the hole-in-one prize of a DIZO carbon-fiber bike, which is worth NT$45,500. The Japanese closed the round with a 74 and finished in a tie for 43rd at 230.

Main sponsors this week at the 2019 Nan Yi Professional Golf Ladies Open are Tong Yang Group, Ta Yih Group, and TYC Brother Industrial.
