2023 Taiwan LPGA Tour | Jing-Mao Ladies Open 25–27 Jul Tournament Preview
Date:2023-07-24

This week, the TLPGA Tour travels to Royal Kuan-Hsi Golf Club for the second annual Jing Mao Ladies Open. Thailand’s P.K. Kongkraphan will aim for her third TLPGA Tour title in the NT$3 million event.

This is the ninth leg on the 2023 TLPGA Tour. Set at 6,203 yards long, the Royal Kuan-Hsi course will be testing players’ putting skills with its challenging, undulous greens. The eventual winner on Thursday takes away a NT$540,000 cash prize.

Kongkraphan has been one of the stand-out players this year, lifting two winner’s trophies in May at the WPG Ladies Open and the Friends of TLPGA Open.

Still in her rookie year, Tseng Tsai-Ching (曾彩晴) claimed her second TLPGA Tour title at the Island Resort Championship last month, following her maiden win at the SAMPO Ladies Open last November, and is now no.2 on the TLPGA Tour official money list.

The Island Resort Championship is a co-sanctioned event by the TLPGA Tour and the LPGA’s EPSON Tour. Hou Yu-Chiang (侯羽薔), who finished in T18 in the tournament’s 2022 edition, returns into action this week just recovering from a left wrist injury.

Reigning YI-CHEN Heritage Tour champion Chang Hsuan-Ping (張瑄屏), WPG Ladies Open runner-up Shih Cheng-Hsuan (石澄璇), Friends of TLPGA Open runners-up Chang Ching-Ling (張靖翎) and Chen Ling-Jie (陳伶潔) as well as Japan’s Yuna Arakawa are also among the top contenders in the 92-player field.

First-round action begins on Tuesday at 6:30 in the morning from both first and tenth tees. A cut will be made after the second round and only the top-50 and ties move into Thursday’s final round.

Title sponsor Jing Mao Construction joined the TLPGA Tour since 2022. “I think our ladies have the game to be great, but we do lack proper training facilities and a complete system in our country to produce champions consistently. Making these tournaments is like the fundamental to create an environment that players can indulge in their competitive nature and grow. But I urge the government to deliver these key requirements as soon as possible in order to secure a more successful future for Taiwanese golf,” said Jing Mao CEO Fan B-F..

Hole-in-one prizes from Departure, SAMPO, EAGLE Golf, and BESV E-Bike will be up for grabs on Hole 3, 7, 12, 17.
