2013 Taiwan LPGA Tour TLPGA Heritage Tour First Round Recap
Date:2013-03-14

Cold winds blowing at the Tao Yuan Golf & Country Club, an even-par finish was all it needs to top first round leaderboard. Chang Hsuan-Ping (張瑄屏) and Cheng Meng-Chu (陳孟竺) both hit 72 and tie for the first after day one at the 2013 TLPGA Heritage Tour.

Winner of last week’s Wintek Spring Qualification, Chang, showed off her great putting skills to make up for some bad tee shots, scoring total of four birdies.

Chang turned pro in 2010, however, other than a win at the 2011 Taichung International (台中國際巡迴賽), was still reaching for a real breakthrough. “Some pretty good wedges and putts definitely saved my day, “ Chang said. “My drives were kind of off today, but glad I managed to save them with some precise wedge shots.”

Chang made consecutive birdies on 5th and 6th both with only one putt with a chip off the green, and on par-5 16th, she made one more in exact same fashion. Her biggest letdown today was when her first swing found the water on Hole 4, where she ended up with one of her four bogeys.

Cheng, on the other hand, needed four more putts for today’s round, but was successful with her strategy to keep high fairway and GIR rates, finishing with three birdies and three bogeys each.

The 2013 TLPGA Heritage Tour is a 36-hole pro-junior event and the winner in Group Professionals will receive NT$110,000 with total purse of one million dollars.

On the same course 10 players participated in the TLPGA Qualification Tournament. Players who make 228(+12) or better in 54 holes win full TLPGA wildcard. After 36 holes, Pan Yen-Ling (潘彥伶) stands at first with a 10-over 154.
