Lee Min Named Taiwan LPGA Tour Money Winner of 2017 Press Release

Lee Min (李旻), 21, today was announced as the recipient of the Pacific Links International Award as the leading TLPGA Tour Money Winner of Year 2017 for a season that was kicked off with a victory at the Hitachi Ladies Classic.

Lee and Wang Wei-Lun (王偉倫), the TPGA Tour Money Winner, received the honor in the Taiwan Golf Club 100-year commemoration event today held in Tamsui, Taipei. Lee was presented with a NT$500,000 cash prize by the Pacific Links Taiwan. Wang Wei-Lun, and Wang Wei-Hsiang (王偉祥), the leading money winner on the ThreeBond TPGA Challenge Tour, were awarded cheques worth NT$700,000 and NT$300,000 each for their achievement in the 2017 season.

Pacific Links Taiwan president Liao Kuo-Chih, a former professional golfer who understands how sponsorship can impact young careers, congratulated and commended the Taiwanese youths for a special year to remember. TPGA chairman Hsieh Chin-Sheng (謝錦昇) and TLPGA chairwoman Cheng Mei-Chi (鄭美琦) were also present at the press conference. Meanwhile, Liao encouraged the award winners – all just in their early 20s – to develop on their great talents through hard work and dedication and continue to improve their level competing on the international circuit, with the assuring assistance the Pacific Links International promises to offer.

Lee, currently also playing on the world’s most prestigious LPGA Tour for the third consecutive season, is a two-time TLPGA Tour titlist with victories at the TLPGA & Royal Open and Hitachi Ladies Classic. She also held one title to her name on the Symetra Tour from the Garden City Charity Classic.

Wang Wei-Lun (王偉倫) becomes the Tour’s youngest leading money winner on his third year as a pro. Claiming his first Asian Development Tour (ADT) win at the Charming Yeangder ADT in July, Wang finished the year as high as number four on the Order of Merit and earned a 2018 Asian Tour card.

Going without any sponsorship support, the cash prize from the Pacific Links came as a huge financial boost to Wang’s campaign on the 2018 Asian Tour. “This is something that I’ll cherish for a while for sure, and I will work extra hard in my new venture on the Asian Tour,” said Wang.

ThreeBond TPGA Challenge Tour top finisher Wang Wei-Hsiang will use the cash prize to fund his upcoming schedule to be playing on the China Tour. His goal is to conclude the 2018 season qualifying for the Japanese circuit.
